Pushing through

Running 1 Comment »

Running continues to go quite well. If I have pain I rest the leg. Continuing with heel drops and keeping kilometres low. I have now planned out my training for the City to Surf Half Marathon on 30th August.

I plan to only run three days a week with one easy, one tempo/ push run and one long run on sunday of varying distances with off weeks. My longest run is 20kms.

With the heel drops, the pain is higher up the calf and less in the achilles. I think it is strengthening now but will keep it up. Have started logging the drops in my log to keep me honest.

Have made contact with the Northern Suburbs Running Group http://www.wamc.org.au/NSRG/index.html and will start connecting with them for runs. I think it will be good motivation and I may learn more from people who have been running for a longer time.

Can I hope?

Ran 15 plus kilometres this week, one walk of 4.5 and a couple of weight sessions. No major pain from my Achilles which is great news.

My race number for the Challenge 10km Fun Run came during the week, so no escaping that one!! I’m running with Grego and Dave so will just follow them along. They run 10 in around 53 minutes so should be OK to keep up with them.

I feel like with management my Achilles can be managed. Lets keep going and see…
