At least I am running

I ran a great 5.75km run on Saturday. Negative split and at a fair pace considering. Achilles is sore today one day later and after a walk is not too good.

I stopped the heel drops and so will get back into them. I always stop what I should be continuing! I have to work harder to fix this. It will happen.

Slowly, slowly

Had a great run with Grego on Easter Monday morning at Kings Park. Only 4.25kms but a lovely day and little or no pain afterwards. Grego is preparing to run the Red Kite Half in Sydney. Considering that his nickname is Fat Grego this is some accomplishment. It’s great to see him enjoying running so much.

I got a new pair of shoes on Saturday ASIC Gel Stratus 2. I am going to keep mileage to 500 on shoes now. It seems to trigger issues if I let them wear more than that. I have done alot of research and I think the ultimate shoe for me is the ASIC Gel Nimbus. Will get a pair next and rotate these two pairs.

Today I ran a good 5.5km at Oriel Park out near Tyler’s horse riding. Very hilly straight run so it felt good.

I left the heel drops this week and rested the Achilles completely. Will start again tonight.

The slow comeback

Well, I have successfully had two runs over the last 8 days and it feels good. I find that if I stretch well, walk as a warm up, stretch again then run I experience no pain.

My Achilles/ calf feels tense after the run but with some ice and more stretching it doesn’t bother me. I am persisting with the heel drops each morning, and will increase this at the end of this week to morning and night. I think it is definitely working.
